Blogging for Dummies??

Ok, if someone haphazardly stumbles upon my un-interesting blog....can you tell me how you learned how to do this? Did you buy a book, call a friend, or is this some innate knowledge everyone but me has been born with? I would love to have some cutesy page that I see everyone else has.....is there a class I can take to learn how to get my named spelled out really pretty in cursive at the bottom and what the heck is html anyway??? LOL
